Cellar
Music Group
Where the record store becomes a listening room. Cellar Music Group is a curated collective of stores, studios, and spaces united by one belief — that music deserves your full attention.
What is Cellar
More than a store.
A philosophy.
Cellar Music Group was born from the same instinct that created Peter Cat Records — a belief that the right environment transforms listening from passive habit into something revelatory.
Each Cellar location is designed with obsessive care: the acoustics, the seating, the system, the curation. Nothing is accidental. Every element exists to pull you deeper into the music.
“Every Cellar city has its own stores, where albums are played with intention, and where every detail is meant to pull you deeper into the experience.”
Through Cellar, Peter Cat Records extends its curatorial vision across cities not as a chain, but as a constellation of kindred spaces.
The listening system
Built for
Music
The Cellar doesn't compromise on equipment. Every component is chosen because it disappears — leaving only the music, exactly as it was recorded.

Why it matters
Cellar Music Group is supported by FACTOR and the Government of Canada — a label with roots, rigour, and a genuine commitment to jazz as a living art form. Owning their records is owning a piece of that commitment.
Cellar
Music
Group
A network of listening spaces united by a shared belief that music is not background — it is the point.
Our origin
Cellar Music Group grew out of the same impulse that founded Peter Cat Records — a frustration with the way music is consumed in the modern world. Streamed. Shuffled. Backgrounded.
The founders believed — and still believe — that every album has a logic, a sequence, a reason for existing as a whole. That sitting with a record from first groove to last, without interruption, is not an act of nostalgia. It is an act of respect.
The first Cellar opened below a record store in Victoria. It was lit by two lamps. It had four chairs. The system was borrowed. But the listening was serious — and word spread to people who were hungry for exactly that.
Today, Cellar operates across seven cities. Each location is different in character — shaped by its city, its staff, and its particular stock. But in every Cellar, the same silence falls when the needle finds the groove. That silence is the whole idea.
